We know it's hard to believe what you can't see — like how clean your indoor air is after exposure to an Alen air purifier. So we sent to an independent testing facility, all of our air purifiers along with a couple of well-advertised air purifiers. Here are the results:


The Alen A375UV Air Purifier averaged 0.004 ppm which is 92% below the FDA limit and slightly less than the ozone measured in the room before the unit was turned on. Based upon these results the air purifier is considered ozone safe.



Note: VOC concentration was made up of a mixture of formaldehyde, xylene and benzene.



Note: Removal rate for E. Coli and Staphylococcus albus were measured after 5 minutes, Staphylococcus aureus after 1 hour and Kiebsiella Pneumonia after 2 hours. These results were obtained from a controlled test lab and may not reflect results in normal use.

JIS B 9908 Test Overview
The JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) B 9908 air filtrations test is used to measure the fractional particle collection efficiency of an air filter. The aerosol generating part of the test rig must be able to supply particles within a narrow range down to 0.3 microns in diameter. This test uses two particle counters simultaneously to measure the particle counter before and after the filter. After confirming that the aerosol concentration of the upstream side has been stabilized, the upstream and downstream aerosol concentration is measured and the fractional collection efficiency is calculated.
