Ionic Ozone Air Purifier
One of the exciting ways Alen is helping people live better is through an ionic air purifier. An ionic air purifier should not be confused with ionic ozone air purifiers and products that use ozone to clean the air. Products that emit or create ozone are doing more harm than good. An air ionizer is an electrical device that emits positive and/or negative charges into the air. This causes particles to stick together and become larger, making it easier for the filer and cleaners to trap.
What is the difference between ion particles and ozone?
Negative ions are atoms missing an electron or two, which gives them a small electric charge. Used alone, negative ionizers are not effective in removing particles from the air. However, an air purifier with a
HEPA style air filter coupled with ionization, like
Alen ionic air purifier products, has a negative ionizer rod that produces a small number of negative ions providing a more efficient means of trapping airborne irritants on the filter; similar to that of dust on a television screen. It is important to ensure that an
air purifier with an ionizer does not contribute unsafe levels of ozone.
Ozone, on the other hand, is a highly reactive form of oxygen that is beneficial in the upper atmosphere, where it shields the Earth's surface from the sun's harmful ultraviolet light. Ozone in the Earth's lower atmosphere, where we live and breathe, is a harmful air pollutant. Breathing in ozone causes damage to lung, throat and nasal tissue.
In Alen's commitment to help people live better, all of our
air purifiers are ozone-safe, certified by the California Air Resources board to produce ozone emission concentrations less than 0.050 parts per million.
